Knitters with goods to sell put the sign at left at the road to invite shoppers. When you follow a sign like this to a knitter's home you typically enter a room where their handmade goods are on display--sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, and sometimes blankets, pillows, and small toys. The shop will sometimes be manned by the knitter, or their husband or child. Cash is often required. Icelanders translate this roadside symbol roughly as the "8-leaf rose." This 2-ply pullover would suit a man or a woman who is looking for a sweater that will last forever.
